Finding a fossil about the size of a fingernail on Chilhowee Mountain near Walland signified the successful result of a three-year search by the professor of geology at Appalachian State University, and solved a 124-year-old mystery.

BOONE - The College of Arts and Sciences has named Dr. Jennifer Burris  Associate Dean for the coming academic year. Dr. Burris will assume her new role beginning July 1st, taking the place of Dr. Neva J. Specht, who has been appointed Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences by the Provost.
