Appalachian State University’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new academic department chairs. Dr. Jay Fenwick will chair the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Tracie McLemore Salinas will chair the Department of Mathematical Sciences and Dr. Tonya Coffey will chair the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

The 1.5-meter telescope housed in the University of the Free State’s Boyden Observatory in South Africa. App State professor emeritus and astrophysicist Dr. Richard Gray designed and built a spectrograph for the telescope, which he installed and commissioned this spring.
