Dusty Roberts ’20 ’22 joins College Advising and Support Services Hub as Assistant Director in Hickory

BOONE, N.C. — Dusty Roberts ’20 ’22 has joined the College of Arts and Sciences Advising and Support Services Hub (CASSH) as Assistant Director. Based at App State’s Hickory campus, Roberts will support academic advising for Hickory students and those enrolled in the college’s Flight Path programs.

Roberts is a two-time App State graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in recreation management with a concentration in outdoor experiential education and a master’s degree in student affairs administration with a concentration in college outdoor programs.

He has remained closely connected to the university since completing his studies. Roberts has served as a lecturer in the Department of Recreation Management and Physical Education, an academic advisor in University College, and a First-Year Seminar instructor.

Outside of his work with students, Roberts is an aspiring author and lifelong fan of the horror genre. He often cites R.L. Stine as an early influence — a passion sparked when he picked up Welcome to Dead House at an elementary school book fair in the early 1990s.

Above all, Roberts is a doting husband and a sleep-deprived father.
