Joseph Bathanti, a professor of creative writing in the department of English will be honored tonight in Raleigh. He is one of seven people who will receive the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor.

Joseph Bathanti has been named the Charles George VA Medical Center (VAMC) Writer-in-Residence in an innovative program in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Asheville. The program is funded by a North Carolina Arts Council and North Carolina Humanities Council grant.
