Educational Outreach

There will be two types of educator events for the Black Mountain College Semester (BMCS) in Spring and Summer 2018. These events are open to all educators in Boone and the surrounding area.

First, the Black Mountain College Semester (BMCS) will support the work of North Carolina's K-12 educators through collaborations among Appalachian State University's College of Arts and SciencesReich College of EducationCenter for Appalachian Studies and The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (TCVA). Educators can earn Continuing Education Units through an Educator Workshop and Lecture Series that will be held on the campus of Appalachian State University between March and April 2018.  Educators will participate in hands-on activities, attend lectures and receive a private tour of the TCVA exhibit on Black Mountain College.

Second, the BMCS project team invites educators to participate in a lesson plan development workshop  to be held on the campus of Appalachian State University in July 2018.
