BOONE, N.C. — College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Corps members serve as representatives to all college constituents, creating, promoting, and executing opportunities for academic and professional growth. These students, nominated by the chairs of departments across CAS, represent the college at events through interaction among current students, future students, parents, donors, and alumni. Throughout the month, we will be introducing new members in the 2026-27 academic year through a question-and-answer format.

What brought you to App State?
“The community. When I visited App for the first time, everyone was so welcoming!”

What research or coursework have you been most passionate about?
“I have been most passionate about my Spanish coursework, especially learning how language can connect people and allow me to better serve and communicate with the community around me.”
Where is your favorite place on campus and why?
“The patio on the second floor of the Student Union is especially nice in spring when the weather is amazing.”
What is one of your favorite memories at Appalachian thus far?
“My favorite memory has been talking to prospective students about my experiences and the opportunities that App State has given me.”
What do you like about Boone and the surrounding community?
“I love Boone’s beautiful scenery and the peaceful atmosphere that the mountains provide.”
What are your hobbies?
“I enjoy painting and watching reality TV shows.”
What is your favorite book, podcast, artist, and/or television show?
“My favorite band is Belanova, and my favorite show of all time is Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Tell us about one faculty or staff member who has made an impact on your life and how.
“Dr. Adrienne Erazo has greatly impacted my life by mentoring me in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Through her support, I have joined the department's Honors Program and have been able to pursue research in areas I am passionate about, shaping both my academic and professional growth.”
What do you feel has been valuable in your education at Appalachian versus another institution?
“The most valuable aspect of my education at Appalachian has been the opportunities provided by faculty, staff, and peers. Their mentorship and support have allowed me to develop strong leadership skills and grow professionally in ways that have had a lasting impact on my future goals.”
What do you hope to do after graduation?
“I hope to pursue my master's in social work.”

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Appalachian State University is home to 17 academic departments, two centers, and one residential college. These units span the humanities and the social, mathematical, and natural sciences. CAS aims to develop a distinctive identity built upon our university's strengths, traditions, and locations.
