BOONE, N.C. — In January 2026, two academic advisors in Appalachian State University's College of Arts and Sciences Advising and Support Services Hub (CASSH) were recognized with staff shout-outs. Awarded by Staff Senate, Staff Shout Outs recognize staff members for their positive contributions to the University.
Kathy Henson '97 '15
Henson is a two-time alumna of CAS, earning master's degrees in both English and geography. Henson served as an academic advisor in App State's University College for 16 years before joining CASSH as an academic advisor in 2017.
Natalie Wilson '15 '17
Wilson is an alumna of both CAS and the Beaver College of Health Sciences, earning her bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in social work. Wilson joined CASSH as a student records coordinator in 2019 and became an academic advisor in 2023.
The nominator praised Henson and Wilson for going above and beyond their roles as academic advisors to assist the college's student records coordinators with key processes during peak times.
