BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University's 2024 iBackAPP giving celebration will be held for 24 hours on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. The App State College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is one of 18 priorities during this year's iBackAPP event.
As a model twenty-first century, nationally-recognized core college, CAS combines the best characteristics of liberal arts and research institutions in both its teaching and scholarship. CAS is home to 17 academic departments, two centers and one residential college spanning the humanities and the social, mathematical and natural sciences. The College is dedicated to providing instruction and research essential to the University's mission and seeks to cultivate the habits of inquiry, learning and service among all its constituents.

This year, CAS' priority is the Student And Faculty Excellence (SAFE) Fund. Initially endowed by a generous gift from Hughlene and Bill Frank, the SAFE Fund provides resources to transform the undergraduate and graduate experience and support faculty teaching, research, and engagement. All contributions to CAS bring the college closer to winning four challenges made possible by generous donors:
Double your impact for Watauga Residential College (WRC) by giving on iBackApp day! When the WRC receives 20 gifts, Ron Russell '88 will contribute an additional $10,000 to the WRC.
When 15 Computer Science alumni give to the Computer Science Alumni Scholarship, Tommy Guy '07 will contribute an additional $10,000 to the Scholarship.
When 10 Biology alumni support the Dr. F. Ray Derrick Endowed Biology Scholarship, Janet Hohn '63 will contribute an additional $5,000 to the Scholarship.
When the SAFE Fund receives 20 donations, Forrest Gilliam '08 will contribute an additional $2,500 to the Fund.
