A fundraising event and exhibition opening for “Archie," a collaborative sculpture project between the Art and Geological and Environmental Sciences departments of Appalachian State University.

Beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.  Door prizes will be awarded after the program including original bronze castings of fossil specimens from Archie!

All proceeds from this event will be used to have Archie cast in bronze on permanent display in the Fred Webb Jr. Outdoor Teaching Laboratory and Rock Garden. In addition to the life-size clay sculpture of everyone’s favorite ancient North Carolina reptile, the Aetosaur known as Gorgetosuchus pekinensus, “Archie” to his friends, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Aetosaurs, how this specimen was discovered and the process of creating a life-size sculpture.

A short informational program will begin at 8 p.m. about the discovery and naming of this new species and the collaboration that is underway to bring him back to life.
