BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University's 12th Annual iBackAPP Day of Giving will be held for 24 hours on Thursday, March 6, 2025. The App State College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is one of 19 priorities during this year's iBackAPP event.
As a model twenty-first century, nationally-recognized core college, CAS combines the best characteristics of liberal arts and research institutions in both its teaching and scholarship. CAS is home to 17 academic departments, two centers and one residential college spanning the humanities and the social, mathematical and natural sciences. The College is dedicated to providing instruction and research essential to the University's mission and seeks to cultivate the habits of inquiry, learning and service among all its constituents.
To get involved with iBackAPP, give, wear and share! Make a gift of any amount (60% of the gifts made during iBackAPP 2024 were less than $100!), wear App State gear, and—most importantly—share why you love App State with friends and family and on social media using the hashtag #iBackAPP. Visit the Resource Center for branded graphics for social media posts.
This year, the CAS priorities are:
The Center for Appalachian Studies: Established in 1978, the Center for Appalachian Studies promotes public programs, community collaboration, civic engagement and scholarship on the Appalachian region.
The Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies (CJHPS): Established in 2002 to develop new educational opportunities for students, teachers and the community, CJHPS works to strengthen tolerance, understanding and remembrance by increasing the knowledge of Jewish culture and history, teaching the history and meaning of the Holocaust and utilizing these experiences to explore peaceful avenues for human improvement and the prevention of further genocides.
The Student And Faculty Excellence (SAFE) Fund: Initially endowed by a generous gift from Hughlene and Bill Frank, the SAFE Fund provides resources to transform the undergraduate and graduate experience and support faculty teaching, research, and engagement.
Watauga Residential College: Established in 1972, the Watauga Residential College is a student and faculty community that fosters creativity, thoughtfulness and civic engagement through experiential, inquiry-based learning both in and out of the classroom.
