Project: “History of a Russian Woman”

College of Arts and Sciences Student and Faculty Excellence (SAFE) grant funding supported Dr. Barclay’s travel to Uzbekistan. While attending a training school for teachers in Tashkent, Barclay spoke about teaching of the Russian language and literature at Appalachian State. She also presented a paper on hair symbolism in Anna Akhmatova's early poetry in Nukus, Karakalpakstan, spoke to students and colleagues at Karakalpak State University and worked on her research project, titled "Women of the Pre-Peter-the-Great Era." Barclay's presentation on teaching of the Russian language at App State was recorded by local media news in Nukus on May 26, 2022.
