Reaching New Heights as a Nepali Sherpa Woman: K2, Everest and Beyond

The Department of Geography and Planning Speaker Series is hosting Dawa Yangzum Sherpa for a presentation titled “Reaching New Heights as a Nepali Sherpa Woman: K2, Everest and Beyond.” Sherpa is an International Federation of Mountain Guides Association Certified Mountain Guide and North Face Athlete. In 2019, she was a member of the National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet Expedition to Mt. Everest.

In her talk, Dawa will share her experiences as a Nepali Sherpa woman on the highest mountains in the world and in her work introducing girls and young women to mountains and climbing. She will also share her insights on climate change impacts in the Nepal Himalaya.
