Informational Panel on Practicing Law in Rural Communities
Monday, October 7, 2024, from 12-1 p.m.
Room 169 (Three Top Mountain), Plemmons Student Union

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University's Department of Government and Justice Studies will host an informational panel on practicing law in rural communities on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 12-1 p.m. in Room 169 (Three Top Mountain) in the Plemmons Student Union. The panel is assembled by Christiana Johnson, Managing Attorney of Legal Aid of North Carolina's High Country Office.

During the panel, Johnson and the following North Carolina lawyers will share their experiences practicing law in rural areas of the state:

  • R. Seth Banks - District Attorney for the 35th Prosecutorial District

  • Richard Doughton - Special Judge at the North Carolina Superior Court

  • Stacy "Four" Eggers '98, IV - Attorney at Law at Eggers, Eggers, Eggers and Eggers Law

  • James "Jimbo" Perry - Executive Director of the Chief Justice's Commission on Professionalism

The event offers an opportunity for students to learn more about what it is like to be a lawyer and establish connections that could lead to internships or other opportunities. It is free and open to all Appalachian State students, faculty and staff.
