Making the Right Turn on Your Career Path

Silicon Photonics Engineer Dr. Yury Deshko of NOKIA, will speak live on Zoom about how to join and thrive in the telecommunications industry as a physicist. Deshko will provide graduate and undergraduate students with a framework of opportunities and challenges that arise in the transition from academia to industry. 

Deshko graduated from Belarusian State University with a Masters of Science in Physics, and received his Doctorate of Philosophy and Physics from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Deshko also served as an instructor for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

Deshko will share his own experience as both an applied physicist and engineer, and inform upcoming job applicants to take a critical look at their future. He will also provide a review of NOKIA’s programs and what the photonics industry offers. 

This event is sponsored by The Department of Physics and Astronomy, and is a part of the departmental Spring 2021 Colloquium Series.
