IOHRM Alumnus rings the NASDAQ bell to open the NY Stock Exchange

On Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management (IOHRM) Alumni, Dr. Rich Cober, had the honor of ringing the NASDAQ bell alongside his team to open the Stock Exchange.

Cober graduated from the IOHRM Program in the Department of Psychology in 1998 and continued his education at the University of Akron, earning his Ph.D in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. He worked as the Vice President of Brand, Marketing, Sales and Consumer Services HR at Marriott International before moving on to his current position at MicroStrategy, a company that provides business intelligence, mobile software and cloud-based services. He is the current Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, which involves leading teams responsible for HR Business Partnership, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management. He has also published research on employee recruitment, hiring and performance management and was awarded SIOP’s Early Career Contributions Award in 2014. 

The Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management Program is an Interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree, offered by the Departments of Psychology and Management, to prepare professionals for work in business, industry, and government. As part of the only cross-disciplinary master's degree program in the nation, students have the unique opportunity to leverage the application of I-O Psychology to business.
