BOONE - David C. Taylor, former Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences, was honored on Friday, July 8th in a retirement reception for his tremendous work on behalf of Advancement and the College of Arts and Sciences.

David_Taylor_RetirementThe Director of Development position will temporarily be filled by the current Director of Leadership Gifts and Board Development, Ethan Dodson.

David came to the university, first in 2006, in the capacity as Director of Gift Planning for University Advancement. He is the former president of Planned Giving Partners of Winston-Salem, which assisted charitable organizations with strategic planning, major gift development, communication and marketing plans. Taylor worked for Wachovia Bank's wealth management and charitable services group from 1982-2003, including nine years as a senior vice president and managing director of sales and marketing.

David earned a master's degree in business administration from UNC-Greensboro and a bachelor of science in business administration degree from Appalachian State University.

David and his wife, Bobbi Taylor were presented with a poem written by Meliné Markarian, member of the Community Advisory Board for the Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies on his behalf:

He's tall, he's handsome,
In fact, quite dashing.
He's smart, he's clever,
In fact, quite smashing.
Who is he? You ask?
Our David, of course...
The man with the know-how
For all discourse.

Krispy Kreme man
Wells Fargo wizard
An MBA guy
With all the whistles.

We'll miss his smile-
ALWAYS READY.
We'll miss his style-
ALWAYS STEADY.

Move on, Dear David,
You deserve a vacation.
It isn't a stop
It is an elevation
Cause Bobbie and you
Have been an inspiration
To one and all who decry
This separation

You'll be back, You Taylor's, to visit we know
'Cause ASU's Yosef keeps one's heart in tow.
Goodbye, Dear David,
All hail and farewell
REMEMBER WE LOVE YOU
IN OUR HEARTS YOU WILL DWELL
ALWAYS!!
