CAS Dean's Office staff recognized with shout-outs in April

BOONE, N.C. — In April, four members of Appalachian State University's College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dean's Office were recognized with staff shout-outs. Awarded by Staff Senate, these recognitions honor staff members who make positive contributions across the University.

Mary Beth Crass

Crass serves as the University Program Specialist. A staff member in the Veterinary Technology program thanked her for doing “an amazing job,” noting that “so many people across this large college go to her for a variety of needs, and she is kind, detail‑oriented, and responds with excellence every day. She is invaluable to the college and the university, and we are grateful for her!”

Lauren Gibbs ’17 ’18

Gibbs serves as the Communications Director. A staff member in the Department of Government and Justice Studies (GJS) praised her for being “exceptionally responsive and efficient when GJS needed materials available for the Senior Awards Ceremony. In addition to being awesome every day, Lauren took time out of her busy Friday to help GJS in a crunch and provide students with the recognition they deserve. She makes us all look better!”

Michelle Holcombe

Holcombe serves as the Business Officer of Personnel. A CAS department chair shared that she “makes complicated things easier and always keeps it real. It’s much appreciated!”

Sharon Huntley

Huntley serves as the Budget Coordinator. A staff member in Academic Affairs praised her for “doing an amazing job leading the process of non‑state fund budgeting in her college and training departments on this process.” They added, “CBAA appreciates you so much!”
