Biology Seminar Series on Wednesday, Feb. 20 with Dr. Susan Lappan

The Department of Biology Seminar series will feature Dr. Susan Lappan presenting a talk entitled, "Big challenges for small apes: Prospects for gibbon conservation in an "Asian Tiger Cub."'

Lappan, an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Appalachian State University, is a primatologist whose research interests include behavioral ecology and conservation biology. Since 2000, her research has focused primarily on gibbons, small apes endemic to forests of South and Southeast Asia and southern China. From August 2017 to June 2018, Dr. Lappan was a Fulbright Scholar in Malaysia, where she initiated an ongoing collaboration with a team of scholars at the School of Biological Sciences at University Sains Malaysia (USM) working to design effective conservation strategies for three species of small apes in Peninsular Malaysia.

As always, the seminar will talk place at 4pm in RSW 183 on Wednesday. Refreshments will be provided.
