Appalachian hosts Scott Reintgen, young adult Sci-Fi writer

Established author Scott Reintgen will be giving a craft talk on Friday, October 25 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Parkway Ballroom of the Plemmons Student Union on the campus of Appalachian State University. This event is free and open to the public. Young Adult Sci-Fi writer, Reintgen’s books include the "Nyxia," "Nyxia Unleashed," "Nyxia Uprising," "Ashlords" and "Saving Fable."

“Scott Reintgen is a former public school teacher and still spends summers teaching middle schoolers dark fiction and fantasy at Duke Young Writers’ Camp. The birth of his son has convinced him that magic is actually real. He lives in North Carolina, surviving mostly on cookie dough and the love of his wife, Katie. Scott is the author of the "Nyxia Triad" and "Ashlords" for young adults, and "Saving Fable" is his middle-grade debut.” – Penguin Random House

Members of the Appalachian campus and community interested in science fiction, young adult literature or getting their own work published are encouraged to attend.

“Scott Reintgen grew up in North Carolina and took full advantage of the fact that he lived on the same street as fourteen of his cousins. It could be a little crowded, but he threw a few elbows and carved out space for himself as the family storyteller. He enjoyed the role so much that he decided to spend most of college and graduate school investing in the world of literature. This led to a career teaching English and Creative Writing in the great state of North Carolina, where he currently lives with his wife and family. To his great delight, the demand for stories and storytellers is alive and well. As such, he can often be found at local coffee shops laboring over stories that he hopes his family, and fans will love.” – Good Reads Website
