Outstanding Alumni Award

About the CAS Outstanding Alumni Award

Each year, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) presents the Outstanding Alumni Award to a former student in the College. The award was instituted in 1998 to honor alumni who have distinguished themselves through their remarkable contributions to a profession, through their ability to provide leadership, through public service activities, through outstanding creative endeavors or through other accomplishments.

2023-24 Recipient: Tommy Guy ’07

Learning to approach problems from an interdisciplinary perspective has long been one of the defining characteristics of an App State education. Tommy Guy ’07 said the out-of-the-box thinking he learned as a Mountaineer has been fundamental to his success since graduation.

Now Guy — who currently works for Microsoft as a principal architect for Copilot AI — remains an engaged member of the App State Community, investing in students and programs across the university.
