BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University's Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies (CJHPS) is pleased to host director and producer Suzanne Lasky-Gerard for a screening of her documentary, “The March of the Living: 1988, Then and Now,” on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 7-9 p.m. in Greenbriar Theater on the second floor of App State's Plemmons Student Union at 263 Locust Street in Boone.
Lasky-Gerard's Emmy award-winning documentary highlights an annual, international educational program that brings individuals to Poland and Israel to study the Holocaust and examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance and hatred. With a dwindling Holocaust survivor population, the film traces survivors’ steps from Poland to Israel as one way to heal and ensure that the memory of those lost in the Holocaust are not forgotten. Join us to watch this unforgettable journey. The trailer is available here.
The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer period with Lasky-Gerard. To learn more about her, visit her website: suzannelaskygerard.com.
Organized by CJHPS, the screening is free and open to the public. For a disability accommodation, visit odr.appstate.edu. Questions can be directed to CJHPS via email at holocaust@appstate.edu or via phone at (828) 262-6118.

About the Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies
Appalachian State University’s Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies was established in 2002 to develop new educational opportunities for students, teachers and the community. Located administratively within the College of Arts and Sciences, the center’s vision promotes tolerance, understanding and respect for all human life. To accomplish this vision, the center works to strengthen tolerance, understanding and remembrance by increasing the knowledge of Jewish culture and history, teaching the history and meaning of the Holocaust and utilizing these experiences to explore peaceful avenues for human improvement and the prevention of further genocides.
