Dr. Tom Anderson will give a talk titled, "Mechanisms of Demographic Variability Across Scales and Contexts." The talk will take place in Rankin Scinece West, Room 183 at 4 p.m.
Anderson received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he had the opportunity to spend a summer as a research assistant at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. This experience completely altered his career path, directing his ambitions towards becoming a field ecologist. He earned an M.S. from Murray State University where he worked with Howard Whiteman on experimental food webs with amphibians.
Anderson completed a Ph.D. with Ray Semlitsch at the University of Missouri, where he expanded his background on predator-prey interactions with larval salamanders in a variety of laboratory, mesocosm and field studies. He conducted his first postdoc with Dan Reuman at the University of Kansas to understand the mechanisms of spatial synchrony and now he is conducting postdoc research at Appalachian State University with Dr. Jon Davenport investigating how phenological variation affects intra- and interspecific interactions in pond food webs.
