Center Launches New Course Exchange with Western Galilee College in Israel: Virtual Information Session for First WGC Class on Medicine, Nazism and the Holocaust in S'22 to Be Held on Aug. 31

The Minor in Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies at Appalachian State University is cooperating with the Holocaust Studies Program of Western Galilee College (WGC) to offer a first virtual class on "Medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust" for ASU and WGC students in Spring 2022. To this end, the two programs invite interested ASU and WGC students to an information session at 1:00 pm EST on Tuesday, August 31.

The new class will carry the same credits as any Appalachian course. It will be team-taught by Prof. Miriam Offer (WGC/TAU), a renowned specialist on medicine during the Holocaust, and Center director Thomas Pegelow Kaplan (ASU), an internationally-known Holocaust scholar. The class is part of a recently-launched five-year course exchange between the two universities (which also involves ASU's GJS and WGC Criminology departments). The exchange starts virtually, but the Center for Judaic, Holocaust and Peace Studies is eager to add travel and research components and grants in the near future (pandemic permitting).
