Bergman named director of the Walker College of Business professional education program

Dr. Shawn Bergman has been named director of the Walker College of Business Professional Education Program at Appalachian State University.

Bergman, who has previously served as a member of the program's advisory committee, will begin work as director of the program Fall 2018.

In this role, Bergman will develop the college's professional education offerings, consult with faculty, recruit new clients and collaborate with the professional education advisory committee.

Bergman is an associate professor of industrial-organizational psychology and human resource management at Appalachian and has spent his career applying evidence-based practices to address issues for a wide variety of private and public sector clients.

"Shawn has extensive experience working with the business community and is well-known for having founded or co-founded a number of initiatives on campus, including the Office of Research Consultation and the Center for Analytics Research and Education," said Dr. Sandy Vannoy, associate dean for graduate programs and research in the Walker College. "We are excited to have Shawn join the team as we continue to expand our program offerings to meet the needs of our stakeholders."

Bergman earned his PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the Haslam College of Business at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
