Appalachian researcher helps link oxygen increase to biodiversity growth

Oxygen has provided a breath of fresh air to the study of the Earth’s evolution some 400-plus million years ago.

Cole Edwards, assistant professor in Appalachian’s Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, was part of a team that linked oxygen increases to biodiversity growth between 445 and 485 million years ago. Photo submitted
