App State partners with Eastman Chemical Co. for NIOSH-funded study on data analytics and workplace safety

At Appalachian State University, the Human Resources (HR) Science Research Team — a group comprising faculty members and graduate students in Appalachian’s Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management (IOHRM) program — is exploring how the use of data analytics could factor in to increased workplace safety for companies and their employees.

The HR Science Research Team visits Eastman Chemical Co.’s facility in Kingsport, Tennessee, in September 2018 to meet with their project collaborators. The team also toured the facility, hard hats and all, allowing them to meet the people who carry out and are affected by safety protocol and gain a better understanding of the conditions in which they work.
