"Peace Studies is about learning how to work across disciplines with people from multiple fields to create holistic and lasting world with more effective conflict resolution...What we're hoping to do is to help people to do conflict more effectively, because conflict helps you grow, it helps you become more mature."
Professor Amy Hudnall teaches interdepartmentally with the History Department and Cultural, Gender, and Global Studies (CGG). She brings students to her horse rescue center, Horse Helpers, to teach students the importance of communication in approaching conflict with the assistance of horses. Appalachian is the only university in America that teaches students conflict resolution using horses. The CGG department includes:
